MTVL MTVL-UC, The Mobile Tactical Vehicle, Light based Universal Carrier will keep pace with today's armored maneuver forces while providing the commander and operators with a protected environment. Critical assets are protected by a BAE Systems developed M993 MLRS armored module mounted on the reconfigured and affordable MTVL automotive chassis. The Universal Carrier features an upgraded powertrain with a 400 hp 6V53TIA electronically controlled engine and a reconfigured suspension geometry giving it more than 15 inches of roadwheel travel. Using M113 common components ensures high reliability, availability and maintainability – plus a proven design, common maintenance techniques and established logistics support base. As with all M113 variants the Universal Carrier roll-on/roll-off C130 air transportable. The Universal Carrier is adaptable as an improved SICPS, anti-tank missile system, air defense system or cargo carrier vehicle. BAE Systems' Universal Carrier offers a flexible platform with high payload capacity while keeping pace now and into the future.
