MTVE Mobile Tactical Vehicle-Engineer – the engineering squad
variant of the Mobile Tactical Vehicle Light (MTVL), the latest "stretched"
derivative of the M113 family of light armored vehicles. This vehicle
is available as a new build or by conversion of an existing M113 vehicle.
The MTVE offers exceptional automotive performance, cross country mobility,
and a large tailorable interior. Substantial payload capacity is
achieved through box style crew seating, rear mounted bustle boxes, and
optional roof stowage racks. The MTVE features an upgraded powertrain,
combining the 400 hp Detroit Diesel 6V53TIA electronically controlled engine
with an Allison X200-4B Hydrokinetic transmission. The reconfigured
suspension system gives the MTVE more than 15 inches of roadwheel travel,
providing improved ride comfort and control. The MTVE includes a
hydraulically controlled bulldozer blade, auger and auxiliary hydraulic
hose reel for operation of on-board tools and equipment. The MTVE
is equipped with either the standard commander's cupola, or an optional
one man electric drive turret. Armor protection for the crew is provided
by the M113's aluminum armored hull. Optional add-on armor packages are
available, providing protection against 30mm AP or chemical effects ammunition.
The MTVE uses components common to the M113FOV, ensuring high reliability,
availability and maintainability – plus common maintenance techniques and
an established logistics support base. The MTVE is roll-on/roll-off
transportable on a C-130 aircraft. Based on more than 30 years of
combat vehicle expertise, the MTVE is an affordable, supportable solution
for all engineering squad operations.
