NORFOLK, VA, June 1, 2005 - United Defense Industries,
Inc. (NYSE: UDI) announced today that Military Sealift Command awarded
a fixed-price, $1.6 million contract to NORSHIPCO, for work on USNS
LARAMIE (T-AO 203). If all options are exercised the award
could total slightly over $2 million. The ship's availability starts
on June 13, 2005 and is scheduled to complete on July 15, 2005.
