United Defense Receives $11.3 Million Order to Upgrade Bradley Fighting Vehicles

YORK, PA, February 9, 2005 - United Defense Industries, Inc. (NYSE: UDI) has received an $11.3 million order from the U.S. Army's Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) to provide Blue Force Tracking integration kits for its Bradley Fighting Vehicles.

Under the order, United Defense will provide integration kits to equip 650 Bradley A2ODS vehicles and 123 Bradley A2 vehicles with Fiscal Year 2005 funding.

Once integrated, the Blue Force Tracking (BFT) system provides a new level of situational awareness to the Bradley, allowing commanders to identify friendly vehicles and their locations.
