United Defense Receives $30 Million Contract for Survivability Enhancement Armor for Army Combat Vehicles

SANTA CLARA, CA, February 8, 2005 - United Defense Industries, Inc. (NYSE:UDI) was awarded a $30 million delivery order Jan. 12, funded initially at $15 million, by the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command for a variety of survivability enhancement armor kits for combat vehicles.

The contract calls for add-on armor, including side armor and mine armor, for M113s, and provides for transparent armor shields for vehicles including the M113 and Bradley. Work on the contract will be completed by July 31.
