ARLINGTON, VA, April 11, 2002 - United Defense (NYSE: UDI) announced today that it will release its earnings for 1st quarter 2002 on Thursday, April 25, 2002 before the open of the market.

In conjunction with this release, United Defense will host a conference call on the same day at 10:00 AM ET, which will be simultaneously broadcast live over the Internet.
